Some of the options for consideration at Church Street....

  • Improving Church Street Market to support existing and new market traders by installing power and lighting, providing more parking and storage facilities and improving the appearance of the market by investing in new stalls
  • Repaving Church Street and the remaining triangle areas which have not yet been improved
  • Planting trees and providing visitors with additional seating, where appropriate
  • Restricting vehicular traffic during core market trading hours
  • Providing the facilities for regular specialist markets and other events to operate in Church Street
  • Changing the layout of the market so that it better complements the surrounding shops
  • Better promotion of Church Street to new visitors

The Retail Group (in partnership with Farrells Urban Designers and Architects) were commissioned by Westminster City Council and Church Street Neighoburhood Management jointly, to work with West One (Westminster City Councils' engineers) to propose an up to date layout for Church Street Market.

The Retail Group have over 20 years experience in consultancy, specialising in retail and retail location strategies. They were tasked with analysing Church Street, absorbing data from previous consultation exercises and providing a revised street market layout with the needs and aspirations of consumers as their motivation, alongside the needs and requirements of our street traders.

Farrells Urban Designers and Architects are located very close to Church Street and are passionate about seeing improvements to the area. They were approached by The Retail Group to contribut to the proposals and illustrate how the changes would affect Church Street.
