Regeneration: Farrells Urban Designers and Architects Vision - Transforming Church Street

Prepared for Church Street Neighbourhood Management, this report illustrates how Church Street, and the area around it, could be transformed into a vibrant, diverse and economically successful environment. The report looks first at the history of Paddington overall, then at the forces that have shaped the area and continues with an overview of the large regenerative changes to come in the area.

This is followed by a more detailed look at the historical factors affecting Church Street, and concludes with a vision for how parts of Church Street could be transformed to act as a catalyst for the ongoing regeneration of the Church Street neighbourhood.

The phased transformation of Church Street could provide:

• Community and sports facilities
• More and better quality housing for the existing community
• A more diverse range of housing
• Improved open space
• Vibrant shop and cafe activity along Church Street
• Better facilities for a regenerated market
